I have shaken off anxiety issues and friends say I am now too cocky

DEAR DEIDRE: FRIENDS say I’ve changed, but I think they’re just jealous.
I’ve always been known as the cynical, negative one among my group of friends, with a dark sense of humour.
I have beaten anxiety but it feels like my mates aren’t happy for meI’m 30, and what they didn’t know was that I suffered from anxiety issues, due to a difficult childhood.
A couple of years ago, I started having therapy and it worked: I have turned my life around, with a new job, a lovely, serious girlfriend and a better body, thanks to the gym.
But my mates aren’t happy for me.
They say I’m not the same person, that I’m now “cocky”. I think they preferred me when I was a mess.
I don’t want to lose them as friends, but I’m not going to apologise for being happy and sorted.
DEAR DEIDRE: You’ve hit the nail on the head when you say they’re jealous.
Some people have difficulty handling the success of others, especially close friends.
It makes them feel insecure and inferior in comparison.
